The largest car manufacturer of India Maruti Suzuki has posted its highest ever monthly sales selling 1,25,952 units in March 2012. The sales figures are an increment of 3.28 percent in comparison to 1,21,952 units sold in March 2011. The total annual sales of the company for the fiscal 2011-12 has seen a 10.8 percent decline from 12,71,005 units in the fiscal 2010-11 to 11,33,695 units in 2011-12.
The company’s domestic sales also saw their highest ever figures with 1,12,724 units in March 2012 which is an increase of 2.08 percent compared to the sales of 1,10,424 units in March 2011.
The company’s total annual sales in 2011-12 saw a decline due to the fall in sales of the company’s small car segment including the M800, the Alto and the WagonR. The segment saw a decline of 10.16 percent in March 2012. Maruti Suzuki’s compact car segment however saw a 23.64 percent increase in sales with 27,913 units compared to 22,576 units sold in March 2011.
The company has faced various labor related problems at its manufacturing facilities in 2011 which affected production and increased the waiting period for its car models to up to 7-8 months.
