Nissan India commences Sunny export from Ennore port

Nissan India has begun the export of its mid-size sedan the Sunny from the Ennore port 4 months after launching the sedan in the Indian car market. The sedan joins the Micra hatchback which is also exported from the port. The Ennore port is situated 25 kilometers north of Chennai and serves as a strategic port for Nissan. The manufacturing plant of the company is at Oragadam also near Chennai and hence the port is of strategic importance.

The Sunny sedan will follow the Micra hatchback to the markets where it is being exported. The company has started the Sunny exports with the Middle East and plans on proceeding to Iran, African markets and Europe.

Till date, Nissan India has exported 85,000 cars manufactured at its Oragadam facility and posted a record export of 14,403 units in January 2012. The company is planning to increase the volume of exports in 2012 and targets car exports worth Rs. 500 crore approximately.
