Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest automobile manufacturer has announced that its domestic sales have crossed the one crore mark milestone since establishment in India in the year 1981. The car marking the milestone was a red Swft VXi model rolled out from the company’s Manesar manufacturing plant and dispatched to Coimbatore, stated the company.
The first car produced by Maruti Suzuki was a Maruti 800 in December 1983. The next milestone was the crossing of the 50,00,000 mark in domestic sales in February 2006. It has taken 6 years for the company after the milestone in 2006 to rake up another 50,00,000 car sales.
According to Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi MSI Managing Director and CEO, the company has grown and evolved to meet the changing demands of the Indian customers. He states that the growth of the company is directly linked to India’s success and growth in the past 20 years.
