New Fourth Generation Range Rover launched in India at Rs 1.72 crore

Jaguar Land Rover India, the Indian arm of the British luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover wholly owned by Indian automaker Tata Motors has launched the new Fourth Generation Range Rover SUV line in India on November 30, 2012. The new upgraded car model is imported as a CBU (completely built-up unit) in India and is available at a starting price of Rs 1.72 crore.

The Fourth Generation Range Rover is being offered in both diesel and petrol versions. While the diesel version of the SUV car model priced at Rs 1.72 crore is equipped with a 4.4-litre TD V8 diesel engine, the petrol version is equipped with a 5-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine priced at Rs 1.8 crore. The diesel engine offers 335 bhp of power at 700Nm of torque, while the petrol engine produces 503 bhp of power at a torque of 625Nm.

Among the improvements in the new fourth generation car model is the all-aluminium monocoque frame enabling a weight reduction of 420 kilograms.

The Range Rover will compete with the likes of the Audi Q7 and the Mercedes-Benz GL in India.
