Maruti Suzuki India posts 50,000 plus bookings for New Alto 800

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has reportedly received more than 50,000 bookings for the new Alto 800 in less than 2 months of inviting bookings for the small car since late September 2012. The new car model was launched on October 16, 2012 had already received 10,000 bookings before the launch date.

According to Mr. Mayank Pareek Chief Operating Officer (Marketing and Sales) Maruti Suzuki, the carmaker has made deliveries of 32,000 units of the new car. The Alto 800 is equipped with an 800cc petrol engine and is also available with the additional option of a CNG fuel input. It has been claimed to be about 15 percent more fuel efficient than the earlier car version at 22.74 kilometers per liter. On CNG fuel, the car offers 30 kilometers per kilograms.

The Alto 800 competes with the Eon small car by Hyundai also equipped with an 800cc petrol engine, offers 21.1 kilometers per liter of mileage and was launched in October 2011. The sales figures of the Alto 800 as of November 2012 are more than half the total Eon car models sold since its launch.
