Mercedes-Benz India, the Indian arm of the German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has reported sales of 7,138 units in the period of January to December 2012. The carmaker has achieved the benchmark in the luxury segment in India which includes car models priced above the price of Rs 30,00,000.
The M-Class SUV launched by the carmaker in India has been witnessing significant demand and the company has frozen further bookings till the month of May 2013. The B-Class Sports Tourer by BMW is also booked until the month of February 2013.
The luxury carmaker has been aggressively pursuing a network expansion strategy throughout the year 2012 and has opened 6 new touch points across Tier II and Tier III cities. The carmaker is currently present in 31 cities with 72 touchpoints which is also the biggest network among the luxury carmakers present in India.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India stated that the sales performance for the year 2012 has been in line with the expectations by the company.
