BMW India hikes car prices by up to 6 percent

BMW India, the Indian subsidiary of the German luxury car manufacturer BMW has announced a price hike of up to 6 percent across all its car products in India effective immediately.

The price hike has been implemented with effect from January 1, 2012, the company said in an official statement. It added that the price hike will range between 5 percent and 6 percent. After the price hike, the BMW range of cars will now be priced between Rs 25,50,000 and Rs 1.42 crore. The Mini brand of cars also owned by BMW will be priced between the range of Rs 26,60,000 and Rs 37,50,000.

Mr. Philipp von Sahr President BMW Group India stated that the price hike is a means to maintain sustainable leadership and premium positioning in the Indian luxury car market as well as sustain the brand image along with a strong model range of cars.
