Mercedes launches AMG GT S in India for Rs 2.4 crore

German car maker, Mercedes-Benz has officially launched its flagship performance car, the AMG GT S in India. The sport car carries a price tag of Rs. 2.4 crore. The AMG GT S is the successor of the SLS AMG, which was Merc’s previous flagship performance car. The AMG GT S shares its design profile with the SLS AMG thanks to its long bonnet, prominent grille and flared wheel arches, although the gull wing doors have been removed.

The AMG GT is shorter in length than the SLS AMG but has the same width and is also taller in height. When compared to the older, and heavier, SLS AMG, the new AMG GT is more track oriented. Under that long bonnet of the Mercedes AMG GT S is a powerful 4.0 litre, twin turbocharged V8 petrol engine developing 503bhp and 650Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to the company’s 7-speed Speedshift double clutch automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels via a limited slip differential. The Mercedes AMG GT S has a 0-100 kmph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 310 kmph.
