Mercedes-Benz plans launch of 3-5 compact cars in India by 2015

Mercedes-Benz is planning to launch three to five compact premium cars in India by the year 2015. The German automaker expects to regain the top slot in the Indian luxury car segment through these launches that will help it boost its sales in India. It is speculated that the company will introduce its new global products in India.

The company has also announced an investment of Rs 350 crore by 2014 to expand its manufacturing facility at Chakan near Pune with two assembly lines for the B-Class and A-Class cars as well as ML and GL SUV car models. The investment will also include a new paint shop for the facility.

According to Mr. Dieter Zetsche Chairman Board of Management Daimler and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, the Indian market has immense growth potential and the company expects a high demand for its A-Class and B-Class segment cars in India. These new car models will be launched by 2015 and will be priced competitively.
