Mercedes-Benz India, the Indian arm of the German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is planning to introduce the CLA-Class car model for the Indian car market. The new car model will be launched by the end of 2014 and will be assembled in India.
While the new car model will initially be sold as a completely built unit, the automaker will later start assembling the car in India at its Chakan facility.
The carmaker is currently also expanding the Chakan facility to include a new assembly line which will assemble cars based on the MFA platform. The new line is expected to be operational in the first half of 2014 and will commence the assembly of the A-Class and the B Class hatchbacks. The CLA-Class car model will also be assembled on the same line.
According to auto experts, the price of the new car model could lie between Rs 25,00,000 to Rs 35,00,000 and it will be powered by a CLA180 petrol and diesel engine alternately.
