According to a company official, the setting up of the facility in South Africa is a long term plan and the plant is expected to be set up by the year 2016-17. The case will rest on the feasibility studies conducted by the carmaker in the foreign country.
Maruti Suzuki India is already in the process of setting production plants in Gujarat and Manesar and it is being speculated that the new plant in South Africa may take priority once these facilities in the domestic market commence operations.
