Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has announced that it will be recalling 1,492 automobile units in the Indian car market. These recalled auto units manufacturer in the month of October 2013 include car models such as the Ertiga MUV, the Swift hatchback, the DZire compact sedan and the A-Star small car.
The reason for the recall has been stated as a possible problem with the steering column of these cars. The recalled cars which belong to the production period from October 19, 2013 to October 26, 2013 will be inspected for faults in the steering column.
According to a statement, the carmaker, in case a defect is found in the steering column during the inspection of the recalled cars, it will be replaced free of charge. The owners of the recalled cars will be contacted by their respective dealers.
The last mass recall initiated by the Japanese carmaker dates back to February 2010 when 1,00,000 units of the A-Star were recalled to check and fix a faulty fuel pump part.
