Maruti Suzuki launches Stingray small hatchback in India

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has launched a new car model in the Indian car market namely the Stingray based on the WagonR platform. The new car model has been priced between Rs 4,09,000 and Rs 4,67,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The new car launch seems to be an attempt to create some buzz in the sluggish automobile sector and boost sales. According to Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa Managing Director and CEO Maruti Suzuki India, the new launch is in line with the carmaker’s strategy of launching new and revamped car models for its customers.

The automaker expects to replicate the success of the WagonR car model which is the second highest car sold in India after Maruti Suzuki Alto small car. The Stingray is costlier than the existing WagonR by about Rs 20,000 and is powered by the same 998 cc petrol engine. A CNG option with the Stingray will also be launched by the carmaker.
