Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has posted a decline of 14.4 percent in its total sales for the month of May 2013. The carmaker sold a total of 84,677 units in the month in comparison to 98,884 units sold in May 2012.
The domestic sales of the Japanese carmaker fell 13 percent selling 77,821 units in May 2013 against 89,478 units sold in the same month in 2012. The exports of the automaker also fell by 27.1 percent from 9,406 units sold in May 2012 to 6,856 units sold in May 2013.
The company’s mini segment car models however saw an increase of 5.1 percent in sales at 31,427 units in the month in comparison to 29,895 units sold in May 2012. Sales in the compact segment fell 29.4 percent while sales in the utility vehicle segment fell 44.3 percent in the month of May 2013.
