Honda Cars India posts 9.8 percent increase in May 2013 sales

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has posted an increase of 9.8 percent in its sales for the month of May 2013 with its highest ever monthly sales. The carmaker sold 11,342 units in May 2013 in comparison to 10,334 units sold in May 2012.

The growth in the carmaker’s sales is attributed to the newly launched Amaze sedan which led the sales for the month with 6,036 units. The new sedan is Honda’s first car model in India with a diesel option. The Amaze sedan was followed by the City sedan with 3,202 units and 2,012 units of the Brio small car.

The carmaker sold 68 units of the CR-V sports utility vehicle and 24 units of the Accord premium sedan in May 2013. The export figures for the month stood at 738 units.

Commenting on the sales performance of the Japanese automaker, Jnaneswar Sen Senior Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Honda Cars India stated that Honda expects to build on the positive sales trend in the beginning of the financial year 2013-14.
