Maruti Suzuki India sales decline 0.4 percent in February 2014

Maruti Suzuki, the largest car manufacturer in India has posted a decline of 0.4 percent in its sales for the month of February 2014. The carmaker posted total sales of 1,09,104 units in the month in comparison to 1,09,567 units sold in the month of February 2013.

However, the carmaker witnessed an increment of 1.8 percent in its domestic sales from 97,955 units in February 2013 to 99,758 units in the same month in 2014. The increase in sales was led by carmaker’s compact car segment (including car models the Swift, the Ritz and the Estilo) which grew by 19 percent selling 28,672 units in the month in comparison to 24,021 units sold in February 2013.

Sales in the automaker’s mini car segment declined by 9.6 percent from 41,311 units sold in February 2013 to 37,342 units sold in February 2014.

The carmaker’s exports were the major source of decline for the overall sales falling by 19.5 percent to 9,346 units in February 2014 from 11,612 units sold in the same month in 2013.
