Maruti Suzuki India to launch 6 new cars by 2015-16

Maruti Suzuki India, the largest car manufacturer in India has announced its plans to launch 6 new car models for the Indian automobile market by the 2015-16. The carmaker is expected to come up with a renewed strategy to boost its sales and strengthen its position at the top of the Indian auto industry.

The automaker has managed to regain its market share of 50 percent in the Indian auto market at the end of the 2013-14 fiscal despite sluggish growth and low economic activity. The carmaker credits the launch of new car models such as the Ertiga compact multi-purpose vehicle and the Celeria small car launched with an automatic version for powering growth.

The automaker has also increased focus on the rural and semi urban regions in India to tap the new buyer potential and increase sales.

Commenting about the upcoming car model launches, Mr. Mayank Pareek Senior Executive Officer Maruti Suzuki India stated that many Maruti Suzuki customers are looking for an upgrade to higher car models, from hatchbacks to sedans, minivans and premium sedans. With that in mind, the new cars that will be launched are expected to be in the large car space, in segments above the Swift hatchback.
