Mark Webber to quit Formula 1 after 2013 season

Yes, it has been confirmed so all you Red Bull and Mark Webber fans can either be happy for the driver or feel sad for the team. The Australian Formula 1 quits driver, who has quite a remarkable record in F1 has called it quite after 12 years of competing in the world’s most famous racing series.

Webber has announced that he has signed a contract with Porsche’s new sports car programme and will race in the World Endurance Championship and Le Mans 24 hours. “It’s an honour for me to join Porsche at its return to the top category in Le Mans and in the sports car World Endurance Championship and be part of the team. Porsche has written racing history as a manufacturer and stands for outstanding technology and performance at the highest level,” says Mark Webber.

Mark Webber has had an illustrious career in F1 and has won a total of nine grand prix along with 27 podium finishes and he has also achieved 11 pole positions. He will surely be missed. Red Bull have yet to confirm who will replace the Aussie driver.
