American carmaker Ford’s Indian subsidiary, Ford India has announced a voluntary recall for the newly launched EcoSport sports utility vehicle in India. The carmaker has voluntarily recalled 972 units of the EcoSport diesel car model in order to fix the positioning of the Glow Plug module in the cars.
A Glow Plug is an external component and functions as a heating device to enable efficient burning of fuel in a diesel engine.
According to a Ford spokesperson, the company discovered a potential concern with the location of the Glow Plug Module during routine checks. It is now recalling the diesel version of the EcoSport model in order to change the location of the component.
The American carmaker is in the process of contacting customers requesting customers to bring their cars to get the relocation carried out. The module will now be remounted at a more protected area to prevent moisture.
