After trying to India unsuccessfully last year, it now seems that Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s legendary off-roading brand, Jeep will officially enter the Indian market in January 2016, and they are bringing three models with them. The good news is that Jeep will launch the Grand Cherokee diesel and the iconic Wrangler Unlimited models, and the American SUV maker will also introduce its SRT performance brand in the form of the Grand Cherokee SRT.
The Grand Cherokee SRT is very powerful thanks to its 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine that pumps out 475bhp. This allows the car to race from 0-100kmph in just 5 seconds. It also comes with high-performance six-piston Brembo brakes, and is equipped with a Selec-Trac system that allows five dynamic settings. The interiors get leather seats, a specific SRT 7-inch TFT Driver’s display, a new flat bottom-heated steering wheel with Uconnect and paddle shifters, an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen with navigation system, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and seat-mounted rear DVD player. The Grand Cherokee SRT will to be priced around Rs 1.4 crore at launch which is expected sometime in January 2016.
Good to know Jeep is entering India but Priced 1.4cr for any of their brand is certainly hit them hard. If they really wnat to enter then they have to think of Indian mindset. SUVs / Off roaders are not so popular and may take years for people to understand.
Its better if they come with some strip down versions within acceptably range …if not then good luck to them
