Jaguar Land Rover has revealed plans for a new Land Rover Defender as the company has applied for the Defender name trademark renewal. The Land Rover Defender will make its return with all new modern off-road sophistication and is expected to be dropped by Land Rover no earlier than 2019. This has been revealed after jaguar Land Rover applied for a renewal of the Defender name trademark. JLR had applied for the renewal in the European market in May earlier this year and has applied for the same in the Philippines earlier this month. Both applications are currently pending, but are expected to be an approved allowing Land Rover to revive the endeared off-roader.
The latest generation of the Defender is expected to be a far more superior and modern vehicle with 21st century technology allowing to be a more capable, comfortable and practical off-roader when compared to the old car. More details have not yet been revealed regarding the project as a whole, but it is expected that JLR might employ their Special Vehicle Operations division in the development process.
