Jaguar Land Rover to assemble the XF Luxury sedan in India

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the Tata Motors owned British luxury car brand has announced its plans to assemble a variant of the XF luxury sedan in India. The motive behind the move is to implement competitive pricing for the luxury car model in the Indian luxury car market. Local assembly of the car will enable bring down the price by Rs 12,00,000.

The XF variant to be launched will be the luxury brand’s second JLR model in India. The sedan is equipped with a 2.2 liter diesel engine and will be introduced in the luxury car market at a price of Rs 44,50,000 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The assembly of the luxury sedan will take place at Tata Motors Pune facility.

The current models of the XF luxury sedan being sold in India are priced between the range of Rs 57,15,000 and Rs 1.03 crore with 3.0 Liter and 5.0 Liter petrol and diesel engines. The new sedan variant will feature a new 2.2 Liter engine.

Other car models by JLR being assembled in India include the Land Rover Freelander 2 SUV also being assembled at the Pune facility since May 2011.

In India, the JLR brand has posted a growth of 32 percent in its sales for the year 2012 selling 2,393 units in comparison to 1,813 units sold in the year 2011.
