Hyundai sales up by 55.7 per cent in December 2008

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) reported a 19.3 per cent increase in domestic sales in December 2008, compared to sales in the corresponding period in the previous year. The company’s overall sales went up by 55.7 per cent, from 13,078 units in December 2007 to 15,602 in 2008, largely due to a massive increase in exports (96.8 per cent).

For the year ending December 2008, HMIL registered a growth of 49.6 per cent over sales in 2007. HMIL’s Senior Vice President – Marketing and Sales, Mr. Arvind Saxena, explained the company’s success in these times of economic distress by saying that Hyundai’s strong line-up of products in the compact car segment along with factors like innovative schemes and a large network had kept sales steady.
