Hyundai replaces cigarette lighters with USB ports

Technology seems to be a major focus for car interior design in this day and age, and added with the high awareness of health conscious consumers, there is an interesting trend that a certain Korean car manufacturer might have caught on to. It seems that Hyundai is planning to replace cigarette lighters with USB ports in all South Korean bound models. According to reports of out Seoul, the Korean car giant has just conducted a survey and has discovered that almost 85% of the respondents didn’t use their cigarette lighters. On top of that it seems these people, or 92% of them, would rather have a USB port in place of the lighter. This could be because of the increase in technology found in portable devices and their usage in cars. It seems that people today are more interested in their smart phones and other electric gadgets that can be of much greater use than a cigarette lighter. It seems that the in-built car lighter has seen its day, but for now this study only reacts to the Korean market, and Hyundai will most probably only start replacing car lighters with USB ports in their own domestic market.
