Honda India showcases Accord Hybrid sedan at Indian Auto Expo 2014

After phasing out the existing Honda Accord premium sedan from the Indian auto market in December 2013, Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has showcased the Accord Hybrid sedan at the Indian Auto Expo 2014.

The new car model is already being sold across global markets and the automaker now plans to launch it in the Indian car market in the fiscal 2014-15. The carmaker plans to assemble the Accord hybrid locally in India. It is expected that the new hybrid sedan will be priced about Rs 30,00,000 – Rs 32,00,000, around Rs 6,00,000 – Rs 7,00,000 costlier than the regular version.

The Accord hybrid is equipped with a 2 liter petrol engine which offers a power of 141PS and 165Nm of torque. When combined with an electric motor, the engine provides a power of 196bhp and 306Nm of torque. The driver will be able to toggle between the petrol and electric power source as well as switch to hybrid mode.

The Accord Hybrid sedan will be the second hybrid model by the carmaker to be launched in India after the Civic Hybrid. The Civic sedan was however discontinued in India due to low sales volumes.
