Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automaker Honda has resumed the supply of auto components to Honda’s Thailand operations which were disrupted due to floods in 2011. The auto parts include production components such as engine parts for the small car Brio.
Honda India supplies auto parts for 2,100-2,500 cars in a month which are majorly manufactured at the company’s Tapukara facility. It sources rest of the components from local vendors for supply to Thailand. According to a statement by Honda India, all of the company’s production plants are expected to resume normal production output by April 2012.
Honda India’s car production was disrupted as well due to shortage of component supply due to a tsunami in Japan and floods in Thailand in 2011. However, with alternative souring of components, the company has resumed normal production levels at its Greater Noida facility since February 2012.
