Honda India posts 29.49 percent growth in domestic sales in December 2013

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has reported a growth of 29.49 percent in its domestic sales for the month of December 2013. The carmaker sold 5,493 units in the domestic market in the month in comparison to 4,242 units sold in the same month in the year 2012.

Leading the sales was the newly launched Amaze compact sedan with 4,458 units followed by the Brio with 1,026 units while the Accord premium sedan sold 9 units. The carmaker also exported units in the month.

The period April – December 2013 witnessed a 66.39 percent increment in sales of the carmaker selling 85,656 units compared with 51,478 units sold in the same period in 2012. The growth in sales is attributed by the carmaker to the launch of the Amaze compact sedan which was its first diesel engine based car model in India.

The carmaker is also set to launch the fourth generation of the Honda City with a diesel engine option and expects it to repeat the success of the Amaze and bring in higher sales volumes.
