Honda India posts 17.8 percent increment in May 2014 sales

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has posted an increase of 17.8 percent in its sales for the month of May 2014. The automaker sold a total of 13,362 units in the month in India in comparison to 11,342 units sold in May 2013.

The sales increment was led by the new Honda City sedan with 7,218 units followed by the Amaze compact sedan with 4,752 units and the Brio hatchback with 1,333 units. The carmaker also sold 59 units of the CR-V sports utility vehicle.

The Japanese automaker also clocked a total of 518 exports during the month of May 2014. Mr. Jnaneswar Sen Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) Honda Cars India stated that the carmaker is also preparing to venture into the multi-purpose vehicle segment in India with the launch of the mid-size 7 seater Honda Mobilio.
