Honda India pins high hopes on the new City sedan

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker Honda has set high expectations from the newly launched fourth generation of the Honda City sedan. The carmaker expects launch of the new sedan car model and the expansion of its dealership network to boost its sales across the tier II and tier III cities markets.

The carmaker also foresees its exports to grow from 2,000 units to 6,000 units in the fiscal 2013-14 due to the launch of the City sedan. Commenting on the launch of the new car, Mr. Shigeru Yamazaki Senior Vice President and Director (Sales and Marketing) Honda Cars India stated that the carmaker expects the tier II and tier III cities to contribute about 58 percent of its total sales.

The previous City sedan which was discontinued in India in the month of September 2013 saw 50 percent of its total sales from tier II and tier III cities.

The Japanese carmaker is also planning to expand its dealership network from the current 159 outlets to 170 by the month of March 2014.
