Honda India has high expectations from diesel cars

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned Indian arm of the Japanese car manufacturer Honda has expressed optimism on the front of diesel cars in India as it prepares to launch its first diesel based car in India in the year 2013.

The carmaker is also planning to implement large scale localization of production of its car range with the aim of reducing costs and adopt competitive pricing. The automaker has been losing on sales due to the absence of a diesel variant among its car portfolio in India. With the increase in the price of petrol, the shift of demand from petrol to diesel cars has severely affected the sales of Honda India.

With its first diesel car Amaze to be launched in India in the first half of 2013, Honda Cars India is attempting to align its product portfolio with the needs in the Indian auto market. The Honda Amaze diesel has been developed with a new 1.5L iDTEC engine.
