Audi India to hike car prices by 5 percent from January 1, 2013

Audi India, the Indian arm of the German luxury automobile manufacturer Audi has announced a price hike of 5 percent across its product range in India with effect from January 1, 2013. The price hike has been announced with the aim of offsetting higher input costs.

The increment in prices will be in the range of Rs 59,000 to Rs 3,69,000 at the showrooms in Delhi. According to Mr. Michael Perschke Head Audi India, the rise in input costs, the depreciation of the Indian rupee and the continuous rise in the fuel prices has forced the company to reconsider and reassess the pricing strategy for India.

Audi India is among many other carmakers operating in India who have announced price hike with effect from January 2013. These include its rivals in the luxury car segment in India namely Mercedes-Benz and BMW along with other carmakers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors and General Motors who have hiked prices due to similar reasons.
