Honda Cars India set to be the third largest passenger carmaker

Honda Cars India, the Indian arm of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda is set to become the third largest passenger car manufacturer in India. The carmaker is slated to be at par with the current third position holder Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) with approximately the same number of monthly car sales.

The sales of the Japanese automaker have been gradually growing supported by the introduction of the diesel engines in its car portfolio in India. According to industry experts, the carmaker is expected to clock about 18,000 – 20,000 units as monthly sales for March 2014.

The month of March 2014 has witnessed good retail numbers brought about by improved footfalls and bookings. The festival Gudi Padwa along with the news of an imminent price hike has further boosted the sales of the carmaker.

The automaker expects the upcoming launch of the Mobilio multi purpose vehicle to help boost sales and enable Honda to climb further up the ladder.
