Honda Cars India posts 63 percent sales growth in August 2013

Honda Cars India, the Indian wholly subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has posted a sales growth of 63 percent in the month of August 2013. The carmaker clocked domestic sales of 8,913 units in the month in comparison to 5,470 units sold in the same month in 2012.

The new Amaze sedan launched in April 2013 led the sales accounting for nearly 80 percent of the carmaker’s total domestic sales in the month of August 2013 with 6,242 units. This was followed by the Brio hatchback with 1,508 units and the City premium sedan with 953 units. The CR-V sports utility vehicle and the Accord premium sedan sold 148 units and 62 units respectively.

The carmaker also posted exports of 556 units bring the total sales count to 9,469 units.

According to Mr. Jnaneswar Sen Sr. VP (Sales and Marketing) Honda Cars India, the automaker is in the process of maximizing the production of the Amaze sedan in order to meet the sales demand in the upcoming festival season and reduce the waiting period for the car model.
