Honda Cars India to increase production

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda is considering plans to ramp up production at its Rajasthan manufacturing facility with the aim of meeting the increase in demand for its car models in the Indian car market.

With the launch of the Amaze compact sedan and the new City premium sedan with a diesel version, the automaker has witnessed a significant growth in its sales. In order to match the demand, the automaker is planning to add a second shift at its production plant in Tapukara facility later in 2014 to achieve full capacity utilization.

Honda is currently the fourth largest car manufacturer by volume with an installed production capacity of 2,40,000 units.

The automaker is also expected to consider setting up a third manufacturing plant once capacity utilization is achieved at the existing plants.
