GM India to raise prices by 1.5 percent from June 2013

General Motors (GM) India, the Indian subsidiary of the American automobile manufacturer General Motors has announced its decision to increase prices across its product portfolio in India by 1.5 percent translating into a hike of up to Rs 10,000 from June 2013.

The decision by the American automaker has been taken to offset the hike in logistics costs as a result of diesel price hike in India. Mr. P. Balendran Vice-President General Motors India stated that the regular increase in the diesel price has put pressure on the company’s costs and the burden has to be passed on to the customers.

The Spark entry level small car by GM India is priced at Rs 3,31,000 – Rs 4,15,000 while it also sells the Beat small car, the Sail U-VA hatchback and Sail sedan, the new Enjoy MUV and the Tavera MUV.
