We all must have always assumed that the German engineers know their stuff, which is why most high end luxury cars such as Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen and Audi hail from the country of beer, sausages and petrol heads. However, what we perceived of these beautiful engines may not necessarily be true. A recent study conducted by UK-based Warranty Direct, to see which companies build the most reliable engines, has just been published and the results doesn’t look good for German engines. According to the report, Japanese manufacturer Honda builds the most reliable engines with a failure rate of just 0.29%. The top five engine manufacturers were Honda, Jaguar, Volvo, Toyota and Mercedes (the only German company). When it came to least reliable engines with the highest failure ratings, the results were shocking as Audi and Mini fell on the bad side of the spectrum with failure rates of 3.7% and 2.5%. So you might want to think twice before you in engage in a debate and declare that the Germans do it best.
TOP FIVE ENGINE MANUFACTURERS.
I wish Yamaha made cars, they would have been the best.
Interesting. In terms of reliability?
The survey results defy our common belief. This may be due to the non compliance of the quality standards of the various components. Total Quality is the sum total of the component quality.
where does FIAT stand?
its true! I guess
Failure rates to be addresed & solved- No doubt. The study detail does not deal with Severity of the failure. In my opinion there will always focussed attention to nullify the risk of failures. (Ravi Arumugham-BMW)
