Ford India reports 24.03 percent fall in sales in April 2013

Ford India, the Indian subsidiary of the American automobile major Ford has posted a decline of 24.03 percent for the month of April 2013 with sales of 7,270 units in comparison to 9,569 units sold in the same month in 2012.

The carmaker’s domestic sales in India also fell 44.41 percent from 7,201 units sold in April 2012 to 4,003 units in April 2013. The exports of the American carmaker grew by 37.96 percent selling 3,267 units in the month of April 2013 in comparison to 2,368 units sold in April 2012.

Mr. Vinay Piparsania Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service) Ford India commented on the growth in exports stating that the carmaker is encouraged by the steady increase in exports and also expects growth in the Indian car market in the long run.
