We love our hatches in India, but that’s because they are practical and cheap. Italian car maker Fiat thinks that India is ready to take the love for hatches to another level, and so they have just launched the Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione. The Abarth 595 is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine, which can pump out 159bhp at 5,500rpm and 230Nm of torque. It can do 0-100km/h in 7.4 seconds and has a top speed of 210km/h.
The petrol engine is mated with an Automated Manual Transmission with Manual Override. It comes in two driving modes, normal and sport. To compliment its handling capability, the 595 Competizione sports 17-inch alloy wheels. It will be imported as a completely build unit, therefore, its price is on the higher side and is available at Rs 29.85 lakhs, Ex-showroom, Delhi.
The car will compete directly with the Mini Cooper fleet, but it has much greater racing lineage and of course it’s Italian! Speaking on the launch, Kevin Flynn, President and Managing Director, FCA India Automobiles Pvt.
