Fiat plans for India

It seems to going to rain Fiat in the months to come. The brand is being re-launched in India with 4 new international models, Linea, Grande Punto, Cinquecento(500) and Bravo.

While Linea and Grande Punto have been heavily localized and are being produced out of Ranjangaon plant near Pune, in technical collaboration with Tata, Cinquecento and Bravo will be imported as Completely-Built-Units.

In the same breath should also be mentioned the new Palio 1.3L multijet diesel engine that’s all ready to be rolled out of Ranjangaon assembly line. All these models are paraded with the new Fiat logo which embodies the synthesis of a distinguished past with a promising future.

The marketing for the locally manufactured cars will be aggressive to say the least, with the hatchback Grande Punto priced at around 5 Lakhs and rattling Getz, Swift, Indica, Aveo U-VA, Fusion and the newly launched Fabia. The sedan Linea, on the other hand, will take on SX4, Fiesta, City, Logan and Aveo, priced at around 6.5 Lakhs.

While Bravo will be the biggest hatchback in its segment, Fiat 500 is already getting rave reviews internationally and some more when it finally shows up on Indian streets.

The battleground is all set. Roll in Fiats.
