Datsun redi-GO hatchback revealed

Datsun, which falls under Nissan, has unveiled its entry-level hatchback called the redi-GO. The car was showcased to the world at a global event in Delhi. The car was shown in its production ready design, which shares much of its styling with the concept car which made its debut at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. Just like the concept, the vehicle looks bold and stands tall. It also features pulled-back headlamps with the Datsun hexagonal grille placed prominently in front. Just like the Renault Kwid, the redi-GO is based on the Renault-Nissan alliance’s same flexible Common Module Family (CMF) engineering architecture and is the first Datsun product to be produced on the CMF-A platform.

The redi-GO will be powered by the same 800cc powertrain as the Kwid and will be mated to a five-speed gearbox. There will also be a 1.0-litre engine with AMT options, but they will probably only be available next year. The redi-GO is expected to be priced between Rs 2 – 2.5 lakh for the base variant and bookings will begin on May 1st, and deliveries will commence from June 1st. The car will compete directly with the Maruti Alto.
