BMW Z4 to be launched in India on October 12, 2009

Z4BMW India will launch its new convertible, the Z4, in Mumbai on October 12, 2009. The Z4 will further strengthen BMW’s position in India’s luxury car market. The German company currently sells two convertible car models in India – the BMW M3 and the BMW M6. The Z4 is expected to be priced at Rs 50-60 lakh. BMW hopes to sell at least 30-40 units of the car in the first year of its launch. The sDrive version of the Z4 has a top speed a 250 km/hr and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hr in 5.8 seconds.

BMW India has made tremendous progress in financial year 2009-10, overtaking its long time rival Mercedes-Benz for the first time this year. From April to August 2009, BMW sold 1,313 units in the country, as again Mercedes-Benz’s 1,128 units. It has set a sales target of 3,000 units for the current year.

  1. The BMW Z4 is a replacement of the BMW Z3 and was first produced in 2002. The BMW Z4 solve the “power vs. fuel consumption” dilemma in a way that’s never been seen before.
