BMW India to launch new cars after attaining 30,000 unit sales annually

BMW India, the Indian subsidiary of the German luxury car manufacturer BMW plans to launch new car models in India once its annual car sales touch 30,000 units per year. The carmaker also plans to commence localization of the car manufacturing process for its car portfolio in India. Among its other plans for the India car market, the carmaker will separate the dealerships for its BMW and its Mini car portfolio.

The automobile manufacturer plans to create separate dealership network for the Mini range of cars as the customers for the Mini cars are different from the BMW cars, stated Mr. Philipp von Sahr President BMW Group India.

BMW currently has one CKD unit in Chennai and will set up a manufacturing unit if the market demands it.

The luxury automaker has also stated that it would not enter the discounts and price war to push sales in India as it may damage the brand image. The carmaker expects to differentiate the BMW brand with premium pricing and dealerships.
