Toyota Australia has showcased the all-new Fortuner SUV. The new Fortuner is based on the latest HiLux pickup truck. The seven-seat off-roader gets a new design with influences from the HiLux and high-end features such as bi-LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED taillights. There’s also a double wishbone suspension setup in the front while in the back it has a 5-link coil-spring setup. Four-wheel drive will be standard across the range as well as a rear differential lock, reversing camera, hill-start assist and seven airbags.
Toyota will offer the Australia spec model with a new direct-injection, four-cylinder 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine which generates 175bhp at 3,400 rpm. This engine will most probably make its way to India as well. Mated to a brand new six-speed manual gearbox, the engine delivers a maximum torque of 420Nm, but if you opt for the new six-speed auto the torque rises to 450Nm. The car will reach India by next year’s Delhi Auto Expo in February.
