Volvo Car India launched its XC90 Ocean Race Edition last week, in connection with the Volvo Ocean Race 2008-2009. The company, which is barely a year old in India, plans to launch 25 special edition SUVs with the aim of building the brand in the country. 10,000 special edition Volvo cars will be sold all over the world as part of the nine-month long Ocean Race.
The XC90 has been launched in Blue Pearl and Electric Silver metallic colours and carries an exclusive Ocean Race emblem on the side fender and the roof rails. Its five-seater version is priced at Rs. 50 lakh, while the seven-seater costs Rs. 51.5 lakh.
Volvo currently has four dealerships in India, in Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Hyderabad and plans to open six more in the coming year.
