Volkswagen India rolls out 3,00,000th car from Chakan plant

Volkswagen India has achieved the production of 3,00,000 car units at its Chakan manufacturing plant near Pune. The feat was achieved with the rolling out of the 3,00,000th car which was a left-hand drive export version of the Vento sedan car model.

The automaker started production at the Chakan plant in May 2009 when the first car unit was rolled out. The facility now houses the production of the Skoda Fabia hatchback and the Skoda Rapid sedan in addition to the Vento sedan and Polo hatchback car models.

Volkswagen is currently producing car models in India to address the domestic demand as well as for its export operations across more than 30 countries in Asia and Africa. While the Vento was earlier specifically designed and manufactured for the India auto market, export of the sedan car model was later commenced by the carmaker.
