Volkswagen to increase Vento exports from India to Mexico

Volkswagen India, the Indian arm of the German automobile manufacturer is in the process of increasing the exports of the Vento sedan to the Mexico auto market. The sedan car model is manufactured by the automaker at its Pune facility and exported to multiple global auto markets across Asia, Africa and Mexico.

The German automaker commenced export of the Vento left-hand drive to Mexican auto market in the month of October 2013. According to Mahesh Kodumudi President & Managing Director Volkswagen India, Mexico has become the largest export markets for Volkswagen and every second car in the export volumes are headed for Mexico.

Volkswagen India commenced export operations in 2011 and currently exports the Polo hatchback and the Vento sedan to 32 countries across three continents, stated Mr. Kodumudi. He added that 20 percent of the production at its Pune plant is dedicated for exports and said that that carmaker has the capacity to increase production to meet increase in export demand.
