Trouble at Volkswagen as Chairman resigns

It seems that the German giant is having some internal problems,a nd the latest news is that Ferdinand Piëch, Volkswagen Group’s chairman of the supervisory board, has resigned from the company. It has also been announced that his wife, Ursula, has also left her position on the board. According to Volkswagen the move was due to the fact that “mutual trust is no longer present.” The german car manufacturer has also stated that the board’s deputy chairman, Berthold Huber, will be interim chairman. The trouble began at VW when Ferdinand Piëch told a German magazine that he didn’t want Group CEO Martin Winterkorn to become the next chairman, and that he was keeping the CEO at a distance. The public statement created quite a sensation and led to a secret meeting at VW. According to insider reports the leadership committee had full support for Winterkorn. Piëch and his Porsche kin still have a 51-percent stake in the Volkswagen Group, and so we have a feeling that there is still more drama yet to unfold in VW’s management.
