Toyota Motor Corporation, the Japanese automobile manufacturer, organised a concert by renowned Australian orchestra Wiener Operetten Orchester in Mumbai last night. This was the first time that “Toyota Classic”, which has so far conducted 141 cultural events the world over, organised a cultural performance in India. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Whole Time Director Shekar Viswanathan said, “From the event we will generate about Rs. 15 lakh, which will be donated to an NGO — Save the Children — an organisation working towards the empowerment of disadvantaged children and women.” Viswanathan also told media persons that Toyota has increased investment in the country, even while the auto industry faces a slowdown, to be able to meet the requirements of their proposed new car and because the company is doing well in India.
