Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the joint venture between the Indian group Kirloskar and the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota has witnessed a growth of 7 percent in its sales for the month of March 2013.
The automaker sold 19,452 units in the domestic market in the month in comparison to 18,220 units sold in the same month in 2012. The carmaker attributes the strong sales of the Etios sedan and Etios Liva hatchback car models for the growth in sales figures recorded in March 2013.
The carmaker is uncertain about the next few months given the sluggish market conditions, stated Mr. Sandeep Singh Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer (Marketing and Commercial) Toyota Kirloskar Motor. However, the increase in the excise duty on SUVs has helped the automaker clear the stock of the pre-budget vehicles.
