Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian arm of the Japanese automobile manufacture Toyota has announced that it will be recalling 167 units of the hybrid Prius car model in the Indian car market. The recall is part of the automaker’s global exercise to rectify a software error.
The software error is reported to be in the hybrid system of the car model making it enter a fail safe mode. While the statement by the carmaker added that no complaints have been received in India, the recall is being conducted as part of the Voluntary Recall Code.
The recall by the Japanese automaker is slated to commence from February 14, 2014 wherein the customers will be contacted by the carmaker to repair the error with any additional cost to the car owners. The duration for the rectification of the error is expected to be 1-1.5 hours. The carmaker also expressed its regret for the inconvenience caused.
